Which type of wireless ethernet card do you recommend? This is for my Dell Inspiron I mentioned in an earlier post. I would like to get a decent ethernet card that automatically detects and logins when it picks up a signal. For example, if I am at a friend's house whom has wireless also, or if I am by someone's house who has wireless, I need a card that would automatically detect and connect. I have no clue what kind of a card I should be looking for, so that's why I'm asking the experts here =)

I think you should be ok with any 802.11 card as long as you are dealing with a standards based access point. If you then begin looking at some of the tweaked versions like 802.11b or 802.11g, then both the access point and the card would have to be compatible for peak perforance, or else they would revert to normal 802.11 speeds.
I know people who have Linksys cards and they haven't had any issues. |

Re: Which type of wireless ethernet card do you recommend?I am trying to setup my Netgear WG511T wireless card without success. I have tried to install both ndiswrapper and MadWiFi without success. My OS is currently Xandros 3.02 OCE. Can somebody help me set this card up so I can get away from Windows?
Thanks for your help. |
