cpu temperaturei ve got a p4 3.20e cpu on a d865gbf intel desktop and the temperature is always 57 degrees celcious.
i ve got the problem on 5 pc's with same configuration. can it be fixed? thanxs |

That seems to be about normal for a Pentium 4 under load, though it should go down if you leave it idle. Check out the maximum allowed temps from Intel here (look at bottom table):
www.intel.com BTW, the P4 has thermal sensing built in, and will shut down should it get too hot, not nice for you in the middle of your life story, but will protect the CPU. GF |

Talking of the P4 having thermal sensing made me think of the TomsHardware - report and video of how the Intel chips would survive a fan failure, but the AMD chips were melting into the ground. Read the article and watch the video at the end if you've got DivX installed.
57 degrees is quite high, but you've got to think of how powerful that little chip is. You are going to either get a load of high class fans or move to watercooling (which isn't a bad idea, but time consuming and possibly expensive). The closer you can get it to 40 the better. Rob |
