A new twist on the 419 scam.Has anyone else seen this?
The Register Article I just barely saw this. I remember getting 419 letters by post (before the commen-ness of e-mail) about 15 years ago. This is going quite a bit beyond that though... __________________

Heh. I get these often. It's always some royal African dood no one has heard about. I reply with more bogus info... Until now I didn't know there was an official name to the scam. I've been getting these for quite some time now.

Anyone remember the Nigerian one where you send off money to recieve a magical chemical and a suitcase of black paper. When you applied the chemical to the paper it turned into money?
Can't believe people fell for that GF |

That, they usually do in person... we had a few of these jokers here too (they come into Malaysia as tourists). They chat up a gullible looking person on the street or in a pub and casually perform this "magic" to convince you first... Of course, in this demo the black paper always turns into US$$$. When you take the bait and get greedy, they ask you to pay a certain fee for the magic portion and then the only magic you will see is how fast these guys disappear (with your money of course)!

Most of the time I gave out random stuff.. Once I simply said "ok" (the email asked for me to respond). He sent another email, very different, trying to make an appointment or something. It was different because of the choice of words, bad grammar and spelling, etc. It was clear that the initial message was a mass mailing. __________________
