Human Animation (walking)

hello, i have made a human model then i have assign the angles to make it walking..i'm using try and error techniques to assign those angles...
for information, i'm using forward kinematics in order to animate it..i know it's much easier if using inverse kinematics, but the purpose of my project is to using forward kinematics...
is anyone knows the specific technique to assign the angle?..
another one is, i have model the human using 3ds max..from that model, i want to extract the joint angle..but i found a problem because i don't know how to get the angle in 3ds max..i have export to ASCII format..in that file, there are ROTAXIS, ROTANGLE and so on..i don't know which one is joint angle..can anybody help me...
