User Updatable ContentI have been asked to create a website for my brothers football team but I need to create a page that contains all the league tables and match results. The manager needs to beable to update this page after every match from his computer. But I don't want to give him the password to my ftp account. Is there a way of letting him update the content online using a special web page or something. The only problem is I am using a free hosting service that doesn't support asp or anything like that. Can u help me!!!

Hello mjdj,
I don't really see how this is possible without some sort of server-side scripting language support. If there's a way, I am not aware of it. __________________

I am not very ASP-inclined and I doubt anyone else on this forum is (at the moment). You might try to get some ASP-specific help from these guys instead...

One option is to give him a program that will generate the page from his data and email it to you for posting. __________________

Re: User Updatable ContentI'd recommend some sort of CMS system or a Blog with a "feed". There's a simplified CMS that would work for you called www.iupdateit.com. All you'd do is install a little snippet of code in the spot you want them to be able to update. Then, they'd be able to login and use the editing tool to change text, add images, etc... The other option is to get a blog on a site like www.blogger.com, and then feed the info into the site using something like www.FeedBurner.com or www.widgetbox.com. Both of these options would be a ton easier than you having to learn some sort of programming like ASP. I think this would work better for you. Hope this helps!

Re: User Updatable ContentSome hosts allow you to specify a secondary FTP user who has access to only a designated sub-folder. This is unlikely to be available on a free host, though. If that is not an option, I agree with the idea of having the manager email you the data.
