Motherboard questionI have this motherboard, a socket A, 'k7v soyo dragon plus!." I got it from a friend, with no CPU in it. If I were to put a CPU in it, how would I know that the multiplier/FSB settings would be correct? (Like, not murder the CPU when I turn it on.) There are no external jumpers or dipswitches, as it is a newish board. I was thinking the default is 'auto-detect' or something, so maybe I can remove the battery and let it reset? Am I correct? And is this true for all motherboards?
P.S. The friend wouldn't know a RAM module if it bit him in the rear end... I wish we could trade computers... I won't bother asking him ![]() __________________

I'm not sure about all motherboard but most of the new ones will 'auto-detect' your CPU as you said. If you buy one of the supported CPU's and install it on the board you should be fine.
