Mozilla and Firefox not co-existing!

Hi - I've been lurking around for awhile.

I've been using Mozilla for a while on my home PC (98SE OS), and then, at work, discovered Firefox, which works a lot better for me. I d/l'ed it at home, then installed it (ver. 0.9). I didn't uninstall Mozilla first, and maybe I should have.

I tried running Firefox, and it's unable to connect into the Internet (the error message is "unable to find xxx.xxxxxx.xxx"). Mozilla can find the sites just fine. I don't think it makes a difference, but I'm using a DSL connection at home. Oh yes, and I DON'T have Mozilla installed on my work machine, so I don't know if I'd have the same problem there.

I'd really love to be able to switch to Firefox. It's got a few simple extras that Mozilla doesn't have, but makes browsing much better for me.

Any ideas/experience on getting Firefox to connect? I apologize if this problems's already come up.

Thanks for your help.

Hello ariel04,

If in doubt, why don't you UN-install both and re-install just FireFox?

Also, in your Network (TCP/IP) settings, have you enabled and set up your ISP's DNS IPs (in DNS Configurations)? It's a long-shot but I thought I should mention it.

FYI, I have both installed on my PC (Windows ME) and never noticed an issue like this. I also used Mozilla for a good while in the past before installing (and using) FireBird/Fox.

I haven't had any problems. AAMOF one day I had Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape, Opera and IE running all at once for a test -- no problems. I'm on XP so can't tell if 98 has limitations or not.
