Motherboard and CPU QuestionI had a question about my motherboard and CPU I have an EPOX EP-8KTA2L motherboard the max FSB for this board is 200MHz. The CPU is a Athlon 1.3 GHz with a 266MHz FSB, the motherboard CPU-support list says that the motherboard only Recommences up to a Athlon 1.3 200MHz FSB not the 266. The question I have is other than performance problems would it hurt to use this CPU would it damage anything and would it even run.
Thanks for any help you can give me. |

okay since ur Motherboard doesnt support a Bus Speed of 266mhz it will only run at 200mhz bus speed.
System Bus System Clock 266mhz = 133mhz 200mhz = 100mhz Yes the CPU will work at ur Mobo but it'll only run at 100mhz System Clock (FSB) rather than 133mhz, so if u chuck tht CPU in your mobo it'll only Run at 1ghz rather than 1.3ghz, btw can u change the FSB and Multiplier in your mobo in the Bios or thru the Dip Switches ?? |
