Do you still want to "disable Right-Click"?

I am SO happy with Mozilla FireFox 0.9. Finally we (regular web surfers) have the ability to disable the javascript that webmasters ignorantly apply to their web pages to disable the right click's Context Menus.

In case you didn't already know this, click on Tools > Options..., select Web Features on the left. Look for Enable JavaScript on the right, and click on Advanced... to the right of that line. In the Advanced JavaScript Options window that pops-up, un-check the option: Disable or replace Context Menus.

Oh, I don't think they are ignorantly applying JS to disable the contect menus. You gotta wanna disable those menus -- that's far from an ignorant task -- it's direct and to the point. And I hate it too.

I wish the designers made it a simple task to disable/enable JS. I like JS active and wish to turn it off rarely, but with the hoops you have to jump thru to get it done, you either live with or without it.

maybe ignorant was a harsh word to use... what I should have used was "mistakenly" because even before FF 0.9, it was really not that hard to circumvent that silly script if one REALLY wanted to copy an image or view the HTML source of a web page protected by it.

Your right, it took about 4 seconds more, thats it.
no right click is bad, and the only time i ever used something like that was a right click that brought up a menu instead of a save image dialog to protect some images of mine.

Someone said to me once that opera has a key command for disabeling javascript, but i cant find it anywhere, were they right or full of S...

I use Opera extensively and haven't found a key that disables javascript. I just looked through the keyboard shortcuts list and didn't find anything.

Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just that it may not be documented.

Cool but why do you want to remove JavaScript. If we go this way we will go back in the early 90's

In many cases, the older way is better. IMHO, technological advances have screwed up standard things as much as made them better. Below is a list of a few things I feel technology has messed up. I am aware of the benefits technology has given us to compensate, but in some of these cases, the added benefits don't outweigh the lost funtionality:
  • Answering machines -- Tapes had more staying power during power outages, you had more options on making a greeting, you didn't have to limit the message length.
  • Operating systems -- Programs must be installed and registered before running making a "favorite utilities disk" you can carry from computer to computer nearly impossible to make.
  • Telephones -- The phone we had when I was a kid you could rely on to 20 years or more. Today you're luck to get 5 with the technological advances of today.
  • TV Service -- Even though my VCR can change channels to record various programs, I can only record off one station with cable and satellite thanks to the box. And antenna service? Forget it. They can't make a decent indoor antenna any longer.
There are many other areas technology has removed functionality. I'm sure you can come up with your own list.

This is true. I was looking at one of my signup forms the other day - so much javascript & CSS it was scary. I did not even know I knew how to do all of that! LOL, now of course I need to go back & try to change it to get rid of all of that JS

JasonMichael has a spectacular aura about
I use Javascript quite a bit on my administrative pages, but try to keep it off the public pages. There are some great things javascript can do for an administration interface - life has been much easier with it.

I just thought I'd clarify this little detail - I don't have javascript disabled on any of the browsers installed on my PC, I just cannot stand websites that disable your ability to use the context menus (right-clicking). Firefox gives us (back) the option to overide/ignore such a script on a web page.

Completely disabling JavaScript is not very useful, in my opinion.
