i don't understand something. Either this site tolerates profanity or it doesn't. pcxgamer changed my title to b****. seriously what did that accomplish? someone else had the word "b*tch" in their post and it wasn't edited. so this means that as long as there's a non-alphbetical character in your profanity, it's ok? who are you fooling? i'd have had a little bit more respect for you if you had just erased the profane word.

Profanity isn't really tolerated in this forum. However, I was responsible enough to censor my own profanity, and the profanity in question belonged to a quote that I took from a TV show (with the exception of my post in the copyright thread). JdS felt it necessary to censor the whole word when he edited your post, but I only feel it necessary to leave out a key letter here or there. If he has a problem with someone's post, he'll deal with it himself. Try not to get so worked up over such insignificant issues, though, because you'll just end up causing people to think that you whine or complain too much. My intent is not to insult you, but just to give you a little advice on maintaining popularity and respect in the forum. Maybe not so much popularty, but respect is definitely valuable to me, and I hope that you respect that I'm trying to help you, and that you don't take my post offensively.

1. JDS didn't edit my post, pcxgamer did.
2. adding asterisks doesn't censor the word, certainly not by adding only 1 asterisk.
3. I'm not getting worked up, i do this when i'm bored.
4. Things that are insignificant to you maybe significant to others, since the world doesn't revolve around you.
5. Maintaining popularity is "insignificant" to me.
6. What exactly are you trying to help me with? Please don't insult my intelligence by saying you are merely trying to help me. If it's your opinion that i whine and complain, just come out and say so. This is exactly the kind of thing i disrespect: adding an asterisk to your profanity even though you want people to know the word you typed, but you are too scared to put it in its entirety so you add an asterisk; saying things in circle instead of coming right out and saying what you want to say; I respect people who either say what they want to say or say nothing at all. If respect was important to you, then you'd have some self-respect to not be half-scared to express yourself.
7. It would take a lot more from you to offend me.
8. Last time i checked, this was an open forum.

Please don't take offense, i'm merely trying to "help" you.

Disregard that statement. Actually i don't care if you're offended, and i'm not trying to help you, i'm just getting my point across.

JdS will become famous soon enough
machinated,

It really doesn't matter much whether your title was edited by me or anyone else from the MOD Team - it's the same. If pcxgamer didn't edit the title, I would have.

Also you will notice that I did not really add a list of cuss words to the script to automatically **** them out. I am hoping that the community will be mature enough to censor stuff themselves (like what Aaron did in his reply). Ideally, there shouldn't be a need to use cuss words at all around here but that only works in an ideal world.

I appreciate that in some cultures, some of these curse words are taken lightly and in some other cultures, it's downright offensive. Since we are a mixed lot, there needs to be censorship but we try to do it with moderation.

sigh....
yeah b*tch really is a censored word. one really can't recognize it. i wish us humans had the developed brains to recognize words even when one or more of the letters were disguised as asterisks!

oh by the way guess which one of the members was immature enough to not censor themselves!! gasp!!

http://www.gidforums.com/showpost.ph...0&postcount=42

anyway, i honestly had no idea that profanity wasn't allowed on gidforums. I am not against not allowing profanity. My point the whole time was that it defeats the whole purpose of censoring profanity by adding a few asterisks in the words. I had no problem with someone taking out the profane word from my title, I just had to point out the obvious hypocrisy behind just adding asterisks to it, as I already pointed out in my previous post. I think this was the first time I ever used a profane word here but i won't anymore since I know now that it's not allowed here. The only reason I used it is because it's the open discussion forum and I assumed nobody would mind.

"b*tch" what is that word. I can't recognise it!! is it butch, well maybe mach is right, why censor when you have only have some asterix replacing the vocals.

for this particular forum, it is ok to do the sensor like that and for the other forums, we should be serious and delete all that kind of words.

Peace!!!
