Quetec 4 in 1

Hi all,

I'm a novice in wireless, and would like to purchase a wireless solution for my already messed up wired small home network.

And recently, I bumped into this product....supposedly boasting of 4 functions thrown in one card - called Quetec card.

I checked out their website
www.quetec.net

and someone did a comprehensive review over it...

I dun know if this product is worth a buy. Any one can help me?

Thanks a zillion!!!

Hey SunShine, After looking over the website and review for this card it looks ok there are somethings that you will need to know.

To know if this card is for you, you will need to know what type of network you are wanting, this card seem to be for private internal networks meaning that without a hardware router you will be able to share files between computers but they will not be able to get to the internet. Another thing to remember is that wireless technology is still very young and the security isn't that good the 64-bit or 128-bit encryption will work just fine and will protect you but it will cost you in speed and over all performance and if you live in a populated area and don't use this protection you would be allowing anyone with a wireless card access to your computer.

If you could tell me a little more about what you are wanting to do and how many computer you’re thinking about connecting I would help you out with this as I ran my own wireless network at home.

I hope this helps

I'm thinking of a wireless online gaming network between at least 3 laptops in my house. or perhaps more when my other friends come over. What would you recommend for a smooth wireless gaming session for maybe over 3-4 hours.

When you mentioned of the private internal network....and not connecting to the internet....that defeats the whole point right? cause we also have this online gaming community which we'd like to connect to.

Also what type of security would you recommend if not for 64/ 128 bit for a basic secured network?

Thanks a zillion!!!

What pcxgamer is referring to is that this product will allow you and your 3 other laptops to connect together and play games over a Local Area Network(LAN) that you would be used to when you go to Internet cafes. However, this device is unique in that you can set up a wireless LAN anywhere (eg. school, work, at camp, etc...) and you can play games over your WLAN.

I see that what you are used to is playing games over Internet, and it will work for that as well. basically, it will work just like any other wireless router on the market (I own one of these) and the advantage of wireless is ofcourse the ease for your friends to connect to the internet, as well as privacy when playing games - you don't have to run long wires to different rooms when you want privacy from other players.

Hope this was a lot of help.
