XP Pro Search Problem

I am using XP Pro's search function, and when I search for the term XpLoDe, it does not come up. However if I open Notepad and search for XpLoDe it shows.

Any ideas on this?

Maybe you could just download the file and try to search for XpLoDe and see what comes up.

You can download the file here:
mrbobdouglas[dot]com/junk3/searchtest.mgx (462 KB)
mrbobdouglas[dot]com/junk3/searchtest.zip (225 KB zipped version)

If you download the Zip file you need to unzip it and search the searchtest.mgx file.

Ok, finally figured it out. XP IS SO CRAPPY

You need to index files with unknown extenstions, in order to be able to search for something within the file.

1. Click Start, and then click Search (or point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders).
2. Click Change preferences, and then click With Indexing Service (for faster local searches).
3. Click Change Indexing Service Settings (Advanced). Note that you do not have to turn on the Index service.
4. On the toolbar, click Show/Hide Console Tree.
5. In the left pane, right-click Indexing Service on Local Machine, and then click Properties.
6. On the Generation tab, click to select the Index files with unknown extensions check box, and then click OK.
7. Close the Indexing Service console.
