GIDSearch now open for business!I promised GIDSearch™ will be up by the end of the month and so it is! GIDSearch™.
What you see today (and for the next one month or so) will just be Phase 1 of 3. I was supposed to soft-launch the site including Phase 2 but that is now impossible to do before the end of May 2004. Now that Phase 1 is 95% complete, I can resume my work on completing Phase 2. What is Phase 2? It's the GIDNetwork SITE Search. The search engine that will return results from pages off ALL my website(s). Then there's Phase 3... but it's still TOO early to tell you what that is exactly! ![]() I will appreciate anyone testing the site and sharing with me your ideas, suggestions and comments. Also, I was only testing the site for the last couple of days, so there may still be some bugs / errors that I may have overlooked. Thank you. __________________

Good job!
Minor issue with konqueror in linux. The fonts look pretty good, but there is some overlap as you can see from the attachment. I'm not sure how big of a deal this is though. Again, overall very impressive. |

Very nice job!
Can't wait until all three stages are complete! So.. how long until you expect these stages to be finished? __________________

Sometimes I'm getting rather whacky related searches JDS.
Financial recruitment Yielded Citroen and the highly amusing Russian Bride. I think you may need to install an adult filter too as I managed to get a rather dodgy recommended related search when I searched free SMS Another glitch I'm noticing is in sometitles like here: Free templates & appears in the title. Despite that I'm really rather impressed by the whole thing JDS. Are you going to attempt to create your own serp style before the official release so it doesn't appear as an imitation? Rob |

dsmith: that is terrible! I will have to work on fixing that one day. I am curious, how does GIDForums™ look for you with Konqueror?
Mr. Douglas: thank you for the kind words. If you ask me now, I can only say "I don't know"... I think I pulled a muscle rushing the site out. I am going to take a few days off from writing code. Rob: "Citroen" and "Russian Brides" are related to "Financial Recruitments", you just don't get it yet Thank you all for your comments. I may not work on them immediately but it's here and I can refer to it anytime. __________________

I don't think Google started that... but I cannot recall now how www.altavista.digital.com used to look like way back then (which was my favourite SE those days) and I am almost certain they had something similar.
Anyway, what would you suggest for colours? I just figured a lot of people are used to the combination on a subconscious level, so why the need to confuse them? Perhaps I haven't been to A9 since that first day also because of this one small detail? Also on GIDSearch™ now, I have set up a Preferences area where you can set your Adult Filter OFF (is ON by default). __________________

I actually searched Archive.Org before replying but it wouldn't display an example search results page for me to link to in my reply so I didn't mention it.
AF is fine I think, "Adult Filter" would clutter up the box (too long on a small screen), so I've included "title" attributes to the <a> and <abbr> tags just to make it clearer for anyone curious enough to want to find out. Again, thank you for the suggestions. __________________
