Dummie needs help - URL not found

Using Win2000. Installed Apache 2.0.43 , php-4.3.6-win32 and mysql-4.1.1a-alpha and performed the following:

1. modified httpd.conf by adding:
LoadModule php4_module c:/php-4.3.6-win32/sape/php4apache2.dll
AddType application/x-http-php .php .phtml .html
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

2. From php install directory, found php.ini-dist. Renamed it to php.ini and moved it to c:\windows.

3 Moved the php4ts.dll to c:\windows\system

4. Created a file called phpinfo.php which contained <? phpinfo() ?> and saved it in htdocs subdirectory.

Problem: I can start Apache, open a browser, IE, type in the url homepc and what gets returned is a page that says:
If you can see this, it means that the installation of the Apache web server software on this system was successful. You may now add content to this directory and replace this page. There is other information on the page but just informational.

When I next enter the url homepc
I get the following:

Not Found The requested URL /phpinfo.php was not found on this server.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apache/2.0.43 Server at homepc Port 80

Any help would be appreciated as I have spent way too much time looking at different installation documentation and trying different things... like swearing.

Thanks in advance.
