I am a newbie.

mysql_connect(localhost,$username,$password);

What maybe wrong?

Hello bearky,

You want to START the MySQL server via FTP? I don't think that's possible but I am no expert. At least on Linux, you need to be ROOT to be able to do that... and I am not even considering the FTP bit in your question.

I would like to help you bearky, but I am beginning to think that I am misunderstanding the phrase "mysql data" in your posts and replies. What do you mean by "mysql data" exactly? What is inside this "mysql data" or what is inside it if it's just a file?

hei..sorry sir. that means data in MYSQL folder. the local server(apache) that i using now contain few folders. the interface that i did must be in "htdoc" folder while the data must be in "mysql" folder.

Angry

Hi,

I 'm encountered similar problems with MySQL after I installed Apache2Triad. I also happened to have previously a MySQL installation in my pc which also became void as Apache2Triad created a new my.ini in windows folder.
Anyway, when I start mysql with mysqladminnt.exe the red light is on (instead of the green). Nothing is written in the logs and I don't know what's wrong or where to look. Note that from all other apps of Apache2Triad, only Mysql is not working.
My other Mysql installation is not working anymore, even when I modified my.ini and tried to start it. I also uninstalled it, and tried to start mysql from Apache2Triad (changing my.ini of course) but nothing.

I also reinstalled Apache2Triad without any other previously installed mysql with the problem persisting and not giving me any evidence (in the log files) of what might be wrong!

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

jkost

Bearky are you talking about an SQL dump

Bearky, it is not possible to connect directly to Mysql with FTP, you must dump your dat into a text file, upload the text file to any directory that is writable.

you will then have to use either Mysql or a script such as PHPmyadmin to browse for the text file and then paste it into the query window. The sql dump files are usually called something like filename.sql

You said at work they used html to upload data did you mean http as opposed to FTP.

The reason you cannot find a place to put the file is that the place where Msql is stored is not visible to FTP, or Http it is not in any public file.
If your colleagues are using a http interface that is what you will have to do also.
