maybe this is a very frequent request, but i searched the net all night long and found some answers but i still have problems...

well, what i have is a local network consiting of 4 computers (win XP and Win2K), each with a specified name and IP. On one of them I've got apache, php and MySQL running (phpdev) and now I want the others to be able to operate the database.

I understood that this would function as if the database were on my online-webserver (where in fact i dont want it to be) and that every user on the network can go and type the IP of my machine in the adress-field of the browser and do whatever i could do on my machine. but all I get is the following error:

You don't have permission to access /database/ on this server
Apache/1.3.27 Server at localhost Port 80

Is there something I've got to fix on apache's httpd.conf?

permission denied error comes when the directory browsing and listing is not allowed...if you upload any file with index name (index.htm or index.php) the this error will not come and on this url your index file will be opened

u need to post the interface file to html folder. But i also faced a problem on connecting mysql data. is there anybody there can guide me on where to post mysql data to? how to activate the mysql server?...thanks a lot
