Upon closer thought, of the 4 (cgi, perl, sql and xml) IMHO only CGI is an internet technology.
PERL can be used as a server-side application, but by no means is limited to internet. SQL is simply a pseudo-language for database access and predates the web by years -- even decades I think. XML as above. Although the question asked was more "where do these fall within internet technologies?" I concur with the original response. ![]() __________________

I'm a web idiot and probably shouldn't reply at all, but from my veiwpoint and limited knowledge, I would consider perl, sql and cgi to all be server side. And xml to be client side. Just my stupid opinion ![]() |

After further consideration, I'd remove sql from the list of technologies altogether. It's really just an interface style to a database. So, cgi, perl, and xml are server side and xml is client side __________________

I would think XML is something server side. How is it not? I am not familiar with it much, but SS means that it runs from the sever basically, and that the output is given. Are we able to read XML code input?

hi friends i have been looking for the answers for some day and for now i have some idea about the question that i asked first of all xml is both a client side and a server side technology it is used for carrying data. cgi and perl is a server side technology sql is a standart for the databases and it is mostly for server side but it can be used for the client side either
