I am hosting my own site on my server at home. It is running Microsoft Server 2003 and is also running an Apache Server and MYSQL fine. I downloaded a free e commerce product from OS Commerce which included the Apache Server and MYSQL. I am now trying to purchase and set up SSL's and I am required to produce a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) from my Server and I assume it is the Apache one. This will produce the information and private key required for the SSL process.

I am purchasing a Comodo SSL.

I have the necessary commands and steps but I am unsure how where and why to action them.

My problem is that I have reviewed this forum and the web at Versign and Comodo etc which all spell the necessary steps to obtain and forward the CSR. They presume you have the know how to action the steps. However I am unsure as regards the following:

1. The method of entering the commands for example go into start/run/cmd or what method can I utilise to get into the Apache Server to issue the necessary command to extract the CSR information

2. Which Apache file/directory do I need to access to issue the necesssary command

3. Could someone please give me the precise steps and method ( basic and idiot proof for me) to action this.

I asked the same question of the OS Commerce forum and got a less than constructive if not negative response and I quote "to try an Apache forum".

Could you someone please help me I am sure this is a common enough problem.
