Crossover Cable

I bought a crossover cable to transfer files from my desktop to my laptop, but I can't seem to get them to recognize each other. Does anyone know where I can find or know themselves step by step instructions to make it work?

Thanks,
Fanta

If you truly have a crossover cable, then all you should need to do is hook up the two computers directly and setup the networking. Can you provide some more details of the errors/problems you are getting.

I've never tried this (yet), but I've googled around a bit.

Have you the NetBEUI protol installed in your network settings? Windows should then detect the other computer & allow access in your Network Places. You've got File & Printer Sharing in each?

Good guidelines can be found at these links:

depending on OS.
