I'm making a list of items I'm going to buy from tigerdirect.com to make a new budget computer... I'm looking at a new $10 mobo that actually looks pretty good but it only supports 4x AGP. The best cards I found for 4x are only 64 mb. That is lame, so I was wondering if I can get a 128 mb card that says 8x and run it in 4x? Also, I am not going to buy a geforce... Every other post on here is about their geforce going apeshi7...

First I would like to warn against a $10 motherboard it may be cheap but it’s more than likely going to cost you in the long run. With that said I personally feel that you will be wasting your money on an 8X card for this board, Has the board is only running at 4X, there are several reason why one is that you may run into voltage problems with the board and the card itself. It also not just the AGP speed that determents the over all performance or speed of the card nor the onboard memory although these do play a factor. It’s also highly dependent on your motherboard and it ability to handle the video cards memory and advanced Chipset feathers of the card itself. I hope this helps I understand that money is an issue but I would strongly advice you putting more money into the motherboard.

Even though this motherboard is only $10, it appears to be good quality, mainly because the reviews are so good with the exception of one. The person that gave one out of five stars tried a radeon 9600 with it. If i'm correct, that particular card was 8x. The motherboard only supports 4x.

Well some 8X card will run on the board although you will more than likely get poor performance. But if your looking for a low-end inexpensive computer then you should be fine with the motherboard I would buy a 4X card and remember that newer games will have problems but if your not into gaming and mostly do Internet/Office stuff you should be fine.
