Question

tmp file in C:\Windows\Temp area removing

I have had this zlt2333.tmp file in my C:\Windows\ Temp folder for weeks - about when my AVG found a trojan horse called REVOP. C. I believe I have rid my system of REVOP.C - but htat damn tmp file won't go away. I tried to use East Tec Eraser 2004, Crap Clean Up program, Trojan Hunter, nothing can detect it or get rid of it. When I try - it changes the name - like =
zlta131.tmp // or // zltb2d4.tmp, I can't seem to get rid of it. Can't dlete it - says it write-protected or in use... Has any one have any suggestion? I mean I know this thing is a part of the trojan horse - it has to be - it weven has a Word doc symbol as a icon. It's not a word document - something like that can be deleted and it doesn't change it's name either.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT/ Of course all the programs I have used are free - or on a 30 day tral - like Trojan Hunter...

You could try loading windows into safe mode that would hopefully make it so that windows didn't load the file into memory. To do this reboot and hit the F8 key windows should load into safe mode and you should be able to delete the file. If not while your in safe mode try right clicking on the file and going to properties at the bottom you should see the Attributes make sure that the read-only isn't checked if it is uncheck it and click apply and then see if you can delete.

Those zlt***.tmp files belong to ZoneAlarm. ZoneAlarm recreates it with a new unique number if it's missing. They're removed when you perform a clean shutdown. They're nothing to worry about.

ah oops thank you GF I didn't know that. I don't use ZoneAlarm. But I'll have to remember that next time.

Yes, I can confirm that this is from ZoneAlarm since I use it too and I found similar temp files in my TEMP folder.
