Question

File not found in Apache 2.0

I running under Madake 9.2 and use Apache 2.0 as a webserver.
I've got a page whith consists of refferences to pictures in a directory on the server. When I click on a picture it shows on the screen. So far everything oke. But for some reason there are
pictures when I click on them I get a FILE OR DIRECTORY NOT FOUND ON THIS SERVER. So I checked the directory and the filename of the picture and everything looks good. I've got the
exact setup under winxp and the pictures show no problem. So is
there anybody who have had this strange problem as well?

I can't solve it as I've been at it for ours with my head against the monitor to look for a minnor mistake in the page itself.

I hope somebody knows the answer.

Marcel

Hi marcel.

The first thing that comes to my mind is file permissions. With XP this is not a concern, but with *nix these must be world readable in a world readable/executable folder.

Dear dsmith,

Thanks for your reply. I've found out what the problem was. I've been looking at everything what could have coursed all this but just a tiny detail I did missed. It was the extention JPG of the files where the problem occurred. All the extentions of the files where in small print and there where a couple of them in the page in big cap. So there you go. A good lesson for next time anyway.

Thanks again
