I personal use Photoshop & Fireworks for banners and other web graphics. For the 3D graphics I use 3d Studio Max and Maya, Maya a great program but I only have an cut down of there program, wish I had the full version.

Hello Killinger,

Blender? That's the first time I am hearing it. If it's free, I'll be interested to give it a go. Is there a site/link you can post in a reply here, so everyone doesn't have to search for it?

This is a really noob-like question, but oh well! If anyone else uses blender, I kinda need some help with it. I can't get the coloring to make faces, and the vertex paint mode sucks! I need to find out how to do the fine lines. Like for saggy skin, I know you would have to pull the top part of the skin over the bottom part, but don't know how to color it to make it black! I can make the basic colors from Material Buttons, but no detail! I also need to know how to put images in. I load them and go to texture and do all the stuff, but it won't show up. Thanks

Never mind. I figured it all out. I also got Photo shop and gimp, they both work great! If anyone out there is looking to get started with graphics, here are some links to the sites for download. (Photo shop is a try out version, but it still works fine. I would recommend getting Blender, then the other 2, PS and GIMP, I am still new too, so I don't know.)

ablinoblacksheep.com also has many other great graphics files to download, so be sure to check it out!

I really like Blender, but found something even simpler to use for 3D, freeware graphics called Anim8tor located at www.anim8or.com. The author did a good job of creating a simple to use interface, that may lack some of the features of Blender and 3D StudioMax, but still has enough power and features to create some fairly good 3D scenes.

"Sadly, NaN's ambitions and opportunities didn't match the company's capabilities and the market realities of the time. This over extension resulted in restarting NaN with new investors and a smaller company in April 2001"

so what does this mean behind all the jibberish?

i use Maya 6.0 Unlimited myself(at work, cos theres no way that i can afford it at home) and the Maya PLE(personal learning edition) at home. you can download this free. there are of course some limitations but this can get you started.
