Making a CD or DVD locked?A client has a data DVD disc with a bunch of files on it. They would like to
have the disc locked somehow. The only way to access the files is to accept a statement of agreement first. Once the user agrees, he can access the disc's files. Does anyone know of way this can be done? I pretty sure that you can't just create a Director file, because, the user could easily navigate to the disc through Explorer. Or am I wrong? What about any other method? Thanks, Hoffa |

I can't think of a practical way...you'd have to encrypt the files to prevent access without agreeing to your EUA.

I agree with Div. Not really a simple thing to do. What kind of files are these? Do they need to be free to be used after agreeing to the EULA the first time? Or is it just something that they can view?
(BTW - I deleted this duplicate thread in the C forum. If you have a specific programming task associated with this, feel free to post back.) cheers, d |

Making a CD or DVD locked?I client needs the files to be viewed and copied. I have been taking a look at some 3rd party software for encrypting files. But there is no real way to create an agreement for the user to agree to. I tried creating an encrypted folder with CD Lock by PC-Magic Software (cd-lock.com). I then created a Macromedia Director program that has an agreement with a "agree" button that reveals a password. The user then clicks "ok" and it launches the "unlock.exe" file. It seem to work, but the files are not decrypted right.
Thanks a lot, Shane |
