RAW Data

Thanks for the response Garth Well i Managed to Sort of get my data back, also Im using windows XP Pro Coporate, my sytem drive was fomatted to NTFS and the second partition on that drive was NTFS too, my other three drives were and still are formatted to FAT32, (for some reason ? i dont like NTFS) first off i tried scandisk which did nothing i couldnt do myself, then i tried fdisk /mbr thinking my master boot record was messed up, that did nothing either, (kept getting error saying "cannot lock drive" or "cannot unlock drive" was one or the other. so i finally settled for the XCOPY method, and to say it was a full 40gig i only lost 1gig, now all i have to do is rename every single file one by one its as if windows thinks or thought i was converting from NTFS to FAT32 as i believe file names get messed up, as mine have, theyre all 8.3 filenames. maybe someone out there has some software that can rebuilt the names automatically would save my fingers from "Numb Tip Syndrome" LOL

To SimperFi

I have had the same problem with this RAW file system. My CD's were burned with Adaptec Easy CD Creater 4. When I switched to XP Hardly any of my CD's worked. The only CD's that did work from that program were RW's. The drivers for Adaptec WILL NOT work with XP. I haven't found any program that will convert the CD's info from RAW to something useable for XP. If you find out anything let me know. I have 20 gig of info, drawings,and photos I can't get access to.

There's no way as far as I know, but there's a better version of xcopy, adequately called www.xxcopy.com which is free for individuals that should preserve long filenames across partitions (howver across different partition types may be a diferent story)

Sorry this is late, I only recalled this now!

Hi,

@ThanosBI,
I really have the same problem, but I worked with Adaptec Easy CD Creater 5.
I tested the reverse way.
-I burned a CD with some data with NERO 6.0 under WXP.
- in a second step I added some files to this CD with Adaptec Easy CD Creater 5 under Win NT.
- this CD could be read under WXP and I ould work quite normal with it.
Curious, I don't understand ....
