[Review] The Simpson’s Hit and Run

If you’re a fan of the Simpson’s and haven’t played Simpson’s Hit and Run then you been missing out. The Simpson’s Hit and Run combines GTA3 style game play with a Simpson’s twist. Even it’s 56 core missions seem to have been based at least in some part on GTA3 / VC.

In The Simpson’s Hit and Run you work your way through 56 core mission using one of five characters, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Apu (Sorry no Maggie). Each level in the game puts you and one of the characters in different area of Springfield, You can car jack any of the car you see or you can buy special car from characters around the level. There are also extra clothes that can bought for each character. A long with the 56-core mission there is also a large amount of side missions that are there for your enjoyment. All and all these mission are pretty simple although you may find your self doing some of them a few time later in the game. One of the things that surprised me the most about the game was it’s lack of any (what I will call) real violence although you can hit people both with your car and attack them. Going up to someone on the street and kicking them will result in getting in trouble with the Police if you do it long enough. But as far as hurting the other person they simply start the move their arms and legs and bounce around a little and of course they start to say funny things the same way with hitting them with your car. Even if you miss them listen for them to yell at you.

The same ring true with car jacking if you car jack someone in Springfield you will find out that you don’t really throw the person out of the car but you only get into the passage’s seat and take a ride. I have to say that the game was done really well. But all other things a side one of the best parts of this game is the amount of detail when it come to the audio-visions. Springfield right down to the billboards looks right and the audio was excellent as the voice over for the character were done but the real actors of the Simpson’s. Then we come to the other character you run into throughout Springfield each has something funny to say. The game is laugh out loud funny every turn I make I find myself laughing at something. Then add that with the fact that there aren’t any big problems I found in the game a few 3D glitches in the environment but nothing big.

Over all the Simpson’s Hit and Run is one of the best Simpson’s game out right now and the that fact it will keep you laughing only adds to it appeal. There is a lot more about this game that makes if one of the great ones. But with it funny theme adding what the character each have to say and you have a really funny and enjoyable game.

I've played this on gamecube and I've got to second your recommendation. This is a great game. It is definitely the best of the Simpsons games that I have played.

This one is defiantly interesting, game play is good but the humor in it is what really keeps me playing I'm always laughing at something. If you have a PS2, Gamecube or a PC, and I think it is on the Xbox too, then you should try it out.
