Windows logon screen

How do I get the administrative icon to appear.
When I was installing Visual C++ it wiped out the logon screen upon install
I found out spme info and used this value Larry=1
in the directiory:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList

The only problem is that my logon scrren looks like this
[icon] Admin
[icon] Larry
Both accounts are admin.
Deleting Larry gets rid of the logon screen
Help !

Re: Windows logon screen

I'm not 100% sure that this is what you need, but there is a way to verify that the 'Use Welcome Screen' option is checked.

1. Navigate to: Settings->Control Panel->User Accounts

2. Under the 'Pick a task...' heading, click the option: 'Change the way users log on or off'

3. Make sure the checkbox for: "Use the Welcome screen" is checked.

Re: Windows logon screen

What value is set here?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\Winlogon
modify key: LogonType
-a value of 0 displays classic logon, a value of 1 displays the welcome screen

Re: Windows logon screen

First you need to go to regedit and delete the Larry = 1 that you added. After you have done this reset the pc and then follow what TurboPT told you check to see that the "Use the Welcome screen" is checked.

Let me know if this works.

Re: Windows logon screen

It didn't work. User screen is checked off. Once the computer reboots I
get the logon screen without the buttons. It then removes itself...

Re: Windows logon screen

It didn't work. The User screen did not show the admin button. The User Admin option is checked off too.

Here is a pic of Xplogon screen

What I want is just Admin button showing. When LArry=1 is removed
the logon screen shows for 5 secs then goes the user mode.
