XML driven challenge

Hopefully you guys will have some ideas. Here's the project:

Need to DYNAMICALLY load jpeg's and mpeg's on a LOCAL machine. With a little tinkering, I could probably figure out how to do this server-side, but this project demands everything done locally and Flash is out because it can't load mpeg's dynamically.

Any ideas? The idea behind this is to create a click through of local files based on an XML file that lists all of the files (movies and pictures) in the folder.

Thanks in advance!

JdS will become famous soon enough
Hello scorpiotr8,

The problem is, I don't EXACTLY understand what you mean by DYNAMICALLY and LOCAL in this context. Describe what you're trying to do.. and where is the XML file?

What have you tried, so we don't sound like morons telling you something you already know...

Okay, basically, I will be generating an XML file that will 'inventory' a list of jpeg's and mpeg's. The XML file (as well as the list of mpeg's and jpeg's) will ALWAYS be different. I would then like to create a non-changing app (an empty skeleton, if you will) that gets ALL of its info from this XML file. I will then need to be able to store it all in a single directory (for cd burning) so the client can do a click-through of all the pictures and mpegs.

I can't rely on them being connected to the internet (offline clients), so server-side is out. I could do this in Flash, but Flash doesn't load external Mpeg's like it does jpeg's and mp3's.

Hopefully that makes a little more sense.

I've only ruled out the server-side solutions and I think Flash won't work because of its own limitations (to my knowledge). I'm thinking Javascript is the only thing left?

Correction, they'll be .wmv files, not mpeg.
