Robs World Tour

Okay I should have written a lot of this ages ago but I've got a spare 20 minutes so I'll try and catch up

Anyway, as some of the regulars know I went holidaying round the world at the end of January with stops in Singapore, Brunei, Sydney (australia), Auckland (New Zealand), Christchurch (NZ), Melbourne (Australia) and Los Angeles where I am now.

I've seen some really amazing things, taken loads of pictures and video and just wanted to give you an idea so you can do it too!

My journeys didn't start off well as me and my girlfriend didn't particularly enjoy Singapore, it was incredibly safe, our hotel was nice but I didn't find much to it apart from 4 million people crammed into a tiny space. Everything is absolutely pristine and I think that's part of what lost its charm for me, everything is kind of fake although it is a fairly cheap place to get your clothes etc etc. Anyway, I only stayed a couple of days there overall (there and back) as the reason I was there was to get to Brunei where my uncle is an expat for Shell.

Brunei is a very hard place to define, its extremely rich but there is also extreme poverty next to each other. It isn't a beautiful place either and its dirt cheap, but being a muslim country there are a lot of repressed females so all you really see is men. As the place is so cheap and you can drive over to Borneo at a whim, your money goes a long way, but you cannot get alcohol for love nor money unless you are related to an expat shell employee We went to a 6 star hotel called "The Empire" (I didn't know you could get 6 stars!) which really is a work of art, I could of happily lived there and it was surprisinly reasonably priced for locals but you pay through the teeth if you are an ambassador of another country. The jungle is just plain green, I imagined all fauna of different colours, but no its just green. It is fascinating though! We went to a place called Bandar, which I think is the capital and saw the water city. Imagine a place where about 20,000 people are living on stilted building out of the water with phone and electricity connected to them through more wooden poles. I've never seen anything like it and all I could think was, "poor souls", but what is amazing is that they all looked very happy and they just whizzed around on boats having a whale of a time getting to the shops and back.

I've only got 5 minutes left so I'll have to go, so next time I'll tell you about how amazing Sydney was with the most beautiful Women I've ever seen. I'm in Los Angeles at the moment and am off to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon on Sunday. Can't Wait!

Take care all, happy foruming!

Sounds like a blast! It sounds like Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon will be a lot more fun than those other places.

I suggest that you take the train ride around the Grand Canyon. If you told me you were going their before, I could have given you a huge deal. My dad seems to know someone who runs the train rides (or something like that).

Also, at the bottom of the Canoyon, there is this small ice cream shop. Sure tastes good after you hike all the way down. You need to upload some photos for us to see!

Well, it was good to see you post back here again! Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Quick update

Well here I am in Venice in Los Angeles, I've got time for a little update I've been playing tourist again going to Disneyland and Universal Studios on Wednesday. Tomorrow I'm going to be on a show called Ryan Seacrest On air if they let us in. I'm not sure what it will be like, but I will let you know. Spring has finally come to the northern hemisphere with a couple of scorchers the past two day. I've now got to the point where I've had enough of travelling and want to have a good meal cooked for me rather than junk or using dodgy hostel pans. I've definitely grown from the travelling experience and come to realise that the US and the UK are the most expensive places on Earth and definitely not the most impressive. Must say the Grand Canyon was indeed spectacular, but it wasn't until after that I really tookit in, since my eyes lied to me when I was looking at it.

Got to go running out of time, hope all are well.
