Getting Colonization to run under WinXP?Have you had any luck getting Colonization to run under Windows XP?
I bought Colonization back in the day when I was using windows 3.1; I purchased a second edition for Windows 95, and online patches helped me to get that version running under Windows 2000. Having said that, Windows XP has created a whole new problem. After 20 minutes of gameplay, my computer with spontaneously shut down. Is there an XP patch out there to alleviate this problem. thanks |

Some luck I have a patch for colonization that I will need to find I think that will allow you to run colonization under WinXP. I will found out what I can about this and will post it here. For the time being there is one other option there is a verison of colonization for DOS that does run under WinXP. __________________

If this doesn't work for XP try to set the compatibility in XP to Win95 or 98.

OK if you have already tried that patch. Try this; with the patch installed find the exe for the game it can be the one on the desktop that will be fine or the one in the start under programs. Right click on it and go to properties, You should then see a tab that says compatibility click on it. Then you will see a drop down menu that will have windows 95, windows 98/me or something close to that in it, then under that menu you will see some check boxes, check the one that says disable themes. There your done Windows XP will try and fool the program into think that it's running on Windows 95 and with the patch installed it should work if not let me know and this week I will try and get it running no my PC.
