Dual Monitor setup

Has anyone here ever done a dual monitor setup before? Is it possible to have windows see both monitors as 2 instead of just on big monitor and if so is it possible to launch 2 full screen applications this way?

I have an nVidia card capable of doing "twinview". I have had two monitors on it before and I don't think it is possible to do exactly what you are asking.

In my experience, it can either duplicate the same thing on both screens or give you a "wide" desktop where they would be side by side.

There are specific applications that can do multiple displays, but this is at the application level and not the OS level. Namely Autocad can use one monitor for its graphical output and another one as the console.

I may be wrong, but in my limited experience what you are asking is not possible at the O/S (windows) level.

Sorry, this is a laptop setup (I should have specified this). Like I said, my experience is limited. Twin view possibilities are available through the external VGA connection or through an S-Video to TV.

Hopefully, someone else will give there experience with a dual monitor card. I may be totally off on my assumption
