DISCLAIMER: I am a Merchant Services Provider (MSP). As such, one could make the argument that my opinions are biased. However, I believe that if anyone views my feedback with an open mind that they will find that what I say is on point. In addition, I am a merchant, so I relate to both sides of the equation. I think every merchant that is open to learning more about a Merchant Account would be well served by first reading this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_account.

It is the BEST non-biased summary of my industry that I have personally seen online. They don't get everything right, but overall the descriptions hit the target.

Again, if there is anything you ever wanted to know about a Merchant Account but were afraid to ask, post away!

Tip: whenever you switch providers or reprogram POS equipment, ALWAYS run a test transaction with your own credit card on each piece of equipment. After allowing up to 72 hours, check your credit card to see if the "discripter" matches the name of your business. Details on "why" to follow...
