"Web 2.0" is the one millionth word added to the English language, according to a language web site. Global Language Monitor (GLM) acknowledges new words once they have been used 25,000 times on media and social networking sites, although other linguists slammed it as nonsense and a stunt.
"I think it's pure fraud ... It's not bad science. It's nonsense," Geoffrey Nunberg, a linguistics professor at the University of California at Berkeley, told reporters. Read more about 15 finalist words.
