This is a 32-bit machine, right?

I've got a Pentium 4 machine - the exact architecture is GenuineIntel x86 family 15 model 2 stepping 7. (I'm running Windows XP Pro, version 2002, Service Pack 3 with no problem.) This is a 32-bit machine, right?

You might try Intel's Processor Identification Utility. It looks like a lot of irrelevant data, though.

CPUID Download: http://www.intel.com/support/process.../CS-014921.htm

CPUID Documentation: http://www.intel.com/software/produc...32_hh/vc46.htm

Pentium 4 support: http://www.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/

You might try asking your question in the Intel forum, too. If you get an answer, please post it here.

Re: This is a 32-bit machine, right?

I asked about this using the live chat on Intel's site. The impression I got was that if you have a 64-bit processor you will see something like "Intel(R) Extended Memory 64 Technology" either in the BIOS or when you boot up your computer. Also, if you have an Intel motherboard, there might be an option to enable or disable 64-bit processing. If this option is not available, it might be safe to assume that you have a 32-bit processor.

The representative also said that CPUID would not tell you whether your processor was 64-bit or 32-bit, but it would tell you what processor model you have. If you know the specific processor model, you might be able to find more information.

This is all speculative. I can't test it since all of my working computers are AMD.

If you have a Pentium 4, then the processor is 32-bit.
