Since you posted this on the Graphics forum instead one of the programming forums, I probably shouldn't have responded with that link. In particular, without knowing your programming environment (what Operating System, what compiler, etc.), I should add that it may not be easy (or even possible) to build the netpbm applications without installing some other stuff (like GNU/cygwin if you are developing on a Microsoft Windows platform).

However...

Your first post asked for code. (It didn't say anything about easy.) The netpbm package includes source code in C for jpegtopnm, which can convert a jpeg file to a pgm file, and the netpbm package has oodles of other graphics conversion and manipulation applications. See Footnote.

If you want a program, pre-packaged and ready to run, there are oodles of them too, but since I haven't used any of them, I won't mention any names. Maybe someone who has actually used one of them will respond.

Regards,

Dave
Footnote: "Oodles" means more than 100 in my personal lexicon.

At last count netbpm had over 200, so maybe I should have said "oodles++"

As far as commercial, shareware, and freeware programs known to my favorite search engine, the quantity approaches a googol.
