How to create a scrolling news section...I am planning to add a plug-in to my topsites script that will allow members to post their 'latest website news'. That is NOT the problem...
I would like to have this news scroll in loops continously until the cursor is placed over it. I've seen this before but of course now i can't recall where. if anyone can show me a page that does this well, i'll appreciate it. __________________

Usually this would be possible Javascript, but you could use some print commands and then use variables to make the news more static. Or you could add an new table in MySQL that would handle the news only. But for some scrollers, go here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex2/index.html

thanks, but i was hoping for some personal recommendations or even live pages... they're (scroll scripts) not all functioning the same way.
and i really don't have the time to test them all out  but i think i will have a look if no one else here can help __________________

First off: sorry, I didn't know that you were looking for opinons.
Second: I have used many of these scripts myself in production websites. They are offline right now because many of them have gone unattended due to the people I design the sites for "forget to maintain them". Well, it sounded like you wanted a news script like the one on the Apple.com main page. I don't know other than the Dynamic Drive website where to get a "clone" of them. -Duane |

no really duane, the page u sent me to, really had a lot more to offer than i had expected...
i am thinking of one or 2 which i found there. apple.com? i couldn't find something like that on their page just now... but knowing apple, it would probably be something cool __________________

I wantr to know as wellhiya
jds the scroll news thing that stops when u rollover it......im very interested in how u did it on your "topsites web page" is it a simple script or a diffucult for someonevery new to this??? if so could u share it with us/me ....so i can try and implement it into something of mine or i would really appreciate it if u could point me in the right direction of a tut on the www... thxs in advance cheers crazydip :-D Last edited by crazydip : 02-Nov-2002 at 18:15.
