How can I erase "power on password" for my laptop HP NC6320My kid was playing with my laptop, experimenting and doing stuff on my laptop when i was away. He entered setup and set power on password so that the laptop asks for a power on password when i switch on power.
i searched the net and got solutions like removing cmos/rtc battery overnight. i tried this and it failed to work. If anyone knows of any other way of erasing/overwriting/recovering the password that was set, please do assist. I am on a dilemna because i need to use it as soon as possible, but i cant afford to consult expensive technical laptop servicing guys in town |

Re: How can i erase "power on password" fro my laptop HP NC6320If the cmos battery isn't soldered to the mother board, (i had an acer like that earlier this month actually) remove the battery for around a minute or so and put it back in. If you don't want to take the laptop apart ..well you can attempt to call the mfg and ask for a reset master password.
