Handling Serial Port in Windows XP


Hi.
im doing my semester project. im in my final year in electrical engineering.
the main problem is that im not soo much a good programmer in MFC. i want help in handling a Stepper motor using VC++ 6 MFC.
i want to run the motor thorough serial port .
can anyone help me in
first , how data is write and read thorugh serial port.
can anyone tell me the PARAMETERS of CreateFile, ReadFile, WriteFile.

For starters, I would go to msdn: Serial Communications in Win32

There is a complete example (in C) using the Windows API functions CreateFile, ReadFile, WriteFile, ...

Click on the link that says "Download the MTTTY sample (4918.exe) "

Executing this unzips a number of files, including MAKEFILE.

Compile from a command line with nmake.

Works for me with MSVC++ Version 6 on Windows xp.
