UDP Sockets between .NET and VS6

Need some help everyone .. I'm new to this forum but it seems like a good place to turn to for some help. I'm currently coding a GUI using .NET 2003 that will remotley (through the use of sockets) control a computer that will be mounted on a "rover". The Rover Architecture is coded in Visual C++ 6.0 and hence is a little bit different than my code in .NET. The Rover proggie needs to send information back to my GUI program through the use of UDP sockets.

I was lucky enough to code the sockets on the rover program so I'm sort of ahead of the game. However, I ran into a problem. I haven't been able to find code to program UDP sockets in a Windows Forms enviornment in .NET. So basically, the rover program (the client) sends a UDP packet to my remote computer (the server). If I code the server in older Visual code, I have no problems sending/recieving the packet.

The problem comes in when I try to recieve the packet using the new .NET Windows Form enviornment, I simply can't find code for it. Has anyone done anything similar to this? Any help/advice would be more than appreciated!

Thanks everyone!

Hi Mike. Welcome to GID Forums. I avoided welcoming you, because I wanted to see if anyone at all could help you out. Unfortunately, I can not. The only socket programming I have done is in *nix.

I would like to encourage you to drop by these forums though from time to time and help us out if possible. My knowledge of the windows API is nill and my knowledge of .NET is less than that. In addition, if you do find a solution to your question somewhere else, I would really appreciate if you could post back.

Anyway, by answering, I will bump this thread to the top of the line and hopefully someone will be able to help you.

Good Luck!
