Nvidia Image TweakI havent been contributing much on this forums much, so i thought i start by doing up a little article. Hopefully it'll help some of you guys.
Nvidia Video Tweak Everyone knows that the image quality on the Nvidia Cards are really poor and pale compared to the ATI Cards. In order to help it a bit, nvidia has introduced Digital Vibrance with the Geforce2 MX which allows 2d on the desktop to be much crispier and movies more "vivid". DV Setting (Use either Low or Med) So in order to get vivid colour without the tendency of oversaturating you will have to use both DV and Overlay settings to make sure it look both vibrant and natural.. By default the nVidia uses brigtness of 100%, which is still a bit dark compare to Ati or Matrox cards, thus you need to increase it from 100% to 120%~140% Stock overlay settings (maybe different from each dets, but the brightness is the same) [b]Tweaked overlay settings (May differ on different monitors)[b] Now with the tweaked setting it should be more brighter/vivid/ less saturated than b4.. Here is some samples taken by a freind on his computer with the same tweaks. (Leadtek GF4Ti4200 + Samsung 152T w/ D-sub & DVI input taken by Nikon CP2000 on a Tripod) Close-up Stock DV + Overlay Full screen Stock DV + Overlay Fullscreen 2 Stock DV + Overlay From the pictures we can see that the stock settings look pale and a bit dark, With the tweaks on overlay settings + DV the color looks more vivid and lighter plus more neutral (comparable to Ati's card in terms of colour) For Ati users you may want to decrease brightness to - 8%~ - 18% in order to have similar brightness as stock nVidia's. end |
