Such things do happen. But if you are not the Admin, don't do this! There are boot floppies that can access NT partitions and edit the Administrator password if necessary. Find some links www.petri.co.il.

Re: ntfs.sys file problem - help!!Hello,
I was wondering if someone out there could possibly help me with the same problem the last member had. I followed all the steps from your previous posts with the exact same result, except that at the last step when i tell it to copy the file i get back a message that says "The file could not be copied". Does anyone have any idea what going on? Why would everything else be the exact same except this? I also have a dell pc, if that means anything? Thanks in advance for you time. |

Re: ntfs.sys file problem - help!!Quote:
If you get the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) immediately when trying to load from the CD, I think that it is very likely a memory problem. (Of course it could be a problem with the CD drive or the CD itself.) The other problems (with a normal Windows startup) could be Hard Disk problems, Viral Infections (or other Windows system corruption problems), or memory problems. Common among these two sets of symptoms: memory problems. I assume that if you had just done some kind of memory upgrade with new memory modules, then you would have restored your original configuration and tried again. Bottom line: If it is a memory problem, sometimes you can remove some memory modules and see if it boots with the others. (Details vary depending on what motherboard your system has and how many memory modules you have.) If you have another computer with similar memory modules (or a really good friend with compatible memory), you can try substituting from a known good machine. There are memory test programs available from various places, but my experience is that, although they might give some clues, I have seen a number of cases where systems seem to pass the tests but really won't work because of bad memory.
