Windows Logs?

Hi,

My PC at work is running windows 2000 professional and I have administrative access on it. When I leave work I don't log off, but just lock the computer so I can leave programs running. Most mornings when I return, I see the "computer is locked" screen, however recently I sometimes find I have been logged off, and the programs I was running overnight haven't completed.

I am thinking either the computer had to restart because of a power outage, or else somebody logged me off. It could possibly be some virus, but I am running Norton antivirus, last updated 4th Feb 2004, and it doesn't detect any.

Are there any logs in windows which show when and why the computer reboots, or logs which detail logons in case someone is logging on to my workstation over night?

Any assistance would be appreciated...

If you computer reboots you should have a system log entry for when it detects the processor and starts the event log.

Either way it would have to be powered off and on unless an administrator is logging in or someone else knows your password. Apart from that its difficult to know.

Just doing a quick Google, I found something on an option "Automatic logoff" somewhere in Windows. I think it's in the Group policy, you could have a look there.
