Guidance on Web MarketingHi Guys,
I have just built a website for motorcycles parts in the UK. The problem is I have tried various ways of marketing but just dont be seen to be gettting the traffic. Ive tried linking, google ads, search engine submission, meta tags etc. Ive been looking at getting a company to do it for me but when I look into these things I just get more and more confused with what they are offering. I need to get my site right in the top searches of google etc. What is the best way of doing this... If tried various ways but my site just seems to being ignored by the robots... HELP.... Darren http://www.4-motorcycles.co.uk (if your interest at looking at my meta tags and stuff) - this is not a marketing ploy! Last edited by Div : 10-Feb-2004 at 08:50.

Four very quick things: - Don't use frames. - Put some content on the front page (a 200-300 word summary of the parts and why you are a good source for them) - Make sure your links are spiderable (not javascript) or else put up a sitemap with a text link to it on every page. - Get more links (ideally from hobby motorcycle sites or niche directories) And don't worry too much about meta tags...just don't spam them. |

So there is no magic program, just pure hard work and persistance? I wanted to get it at the top when a customer searchs for motorcycles parts uk etc... Im using a I Frame, would this cause issues? |

No magic program, just content.
I don't like/use any type of frames because search engines don't always like them and they take away from you customizing the individual pages. For eg, Google has spidered over 400 pages on your site, but they don't contain the top or side menus because of the iframe use. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...orcycles.co.uk |

Oh NoHi Div,
What should I do then.... If I get rid of the Iframe and use tables would the menu still be fine to use? Appreciate the help |

Play around with it...you could use tables or CSS. I would also change the format of your titles to something like:
Exhaust Headers - Best UK Motorcycle parts (the second part can be whatever you want, but move the product name first) |

Looks like I will have to pay for someone to change the index page and stuff. I like the main page but my friend says actinic will not load all its contents into a table. Hence the Iframe... Do you know anybody who could do this. Im obviously willing to pay

Hello 4-motorcycles,
Like Div said, IF you do NOT wish to change your main page, just ADD some links to some important web pages (perhaps) at the bottom of the page. The important thing is to welcome search engine bots and point them to the next page. Keep thinking like that (as you edit each page) and half the battle is won. re:hiring a SEO... if the price is right, I am sure Div would be able to assist you on a weekend... right Div? __________________

Hi,
The names Darren, sorry should have said I was wondering about the frames..... I completely agree with what you say but there is a company called http://www.MandP.co.uk and they use frames and are at the top of google? more confused.... So if I want to keep my Iframe (don’t think I do) will the links make up for the frame? I've bought some linking software which will hopefully bring some traffic. I've also become a Google Ad sense person... Is this a good thing....? I basically advertise for google with some links on my site.... I thought this would increase my chances with google as well... I've spoken to my web mate and he said he will have a look.... Certainly will take your advice, just got to work out how to do it.... Actinic is not the most user friendly shopping cart software..... Support is good but..... |

Have to submitted your site to DMOZ?
http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Unit...g/Motorcycles/ You could just give it a little bit of time, get a few links and see if traffic comes along. If not, you should look at making some changes. I would though start off by adding more info to your front page. |
