I wrote a Battleship game last year (2008) using PHP, MySQL, Javascript/AJAX and HTML. Battleship is a two-player game that was originally played with grid paper and pencils. The version I made is based on a description found in the book Hoyle's Rules of Games.

It was more of a proof-of-concept project and wasn't designed for a large audience (nor Internet Explorer). I was working on an improved version before I lost motivation. The upgrade would have included a chat feature and a completely redesigned interface.
