treedav1I have a Philips CDD 4801 CD-R / RW. My problems is that I iput a cd in the reedwriter, one that I had information on already. i wanted to save an existing file which I did b but when I tried to eject the cd out of the cdrw rom it would not eject. I tried several things. The light will come on for the writer, and I can still burn things to it,but it will not let me eject the cd. Philips has no little hole like the regular cd rom has. I am at a loss, did my writer go bad or do I need to update my drivers. I have a Compaq Presario 5000, with Windows 98 second edition. I 'd appreciate any help or direction. Thanks, Dave

What do you mean by this? Are you talking about the hole through the middle of the CD? __________________

No there is a wee hole at the front of most CD drivers to force eject the disk. Is yours covered by a facia? Did you try ejecting from Windows( right-click the CD drive and eject..)? How about trying to eject on boot-up while the drive is not in use & not locked? GF |

cd burnerI rebooted and as windows was laoding up I was able to push the button & low & behold the tray opened.Do you think I might need an updated driver. I have no idea was causing the problem. I recently did a quickrestore. And I found the pinhole inside below the flapper door. Thanks for your feedback. Dave

That is odd. Have you a program running that constantly needs the CD drive? Something is not letting the CD drive eject.
