I'm not sure what to say I'm going to keep trying to find the answer. But to be honest it isn't looking good, I did check out a few reviews about the board and there all saying the same thing it's the motherboard chipset. Your board has a SiS chipset and from what I know now you were lucky to get that other card working trouble free. Here one of the reviews.
The only other thing I can think of is my old 5200 card I had a lot of problems with it after I got most of them cleaned up I found that if there was smoke in the game you could see all of these red dots in the smoke after that the card started to act strange it would shutdown for no reason. Well I would suggest taking it to a friend with a computer or to a store that will test it for you. But you may just have a bad card it all to common with the 5200. I'll keep trying to found an answer let me know what you try next. __________________

Ok sorry about that I fixed the link. As far as the card goes I'm not totally convinced that it's the card if you test the card on another computer it may work just fine. I'm leaning towards your motherboard personal most of the reviews I've seen for this board and other that have the SiS 730 chipset with onboard video have this common problem of not liking AGP card not sure why. But I do have two suggestions first go to SiS's website and see if they have an update for the chipset that you can download for your motherboard. Next I would suggest that the next motherboard you get not have on board video for PC games this is just another thing on the motherboard to mess up and on top of that it's for the most part unusable.

The chipsets in my option is better but I've never been a big fan of SiS. But (There's always a but isn't there?) I do see two problems with this board.
DESCRIPTION Support 2x DDR or 2x SDRAM Onboard ProSavage8 2D/3D Graphics, Up to 32MB Shared Memory 4X AGP Slot Onboard Ethernet 10/100 LAN 6x USB 2.0 The first is on board video although it a different chipset you still have one more thing that is unneeded and could cause problems in the future. The second problem is that you're card supports an 8X AGP but this board only supports a 4X AGP. Now that board should be backwards computable but I would count on it. Once again I don't know too much about this board I'll have to look up some reviews. Think of it this way the board your looking at is $57.99 and only supports a 4X AGP and has on board video now would you be willing to buy a different brand? If so take a look here this board is only $64.99 it supports an 8X AGP and doesn't have on board video. NOTE: I would do a little research before buying anything. Reason 1: Your not totally sure it's the board I can say it looks that way from what I've heard but I'm not there and I can't be 100% sure. Reason 2: Make sure that the video card and motherboard are compatible with each other and that your other hardware will also work with the new motherboard. __________________

ok i think i have solved the problem with my card.
the first thing i did is download a new driver for agp(dint even know agp had drivers till now) with the driver came a utility that let u select agp 1x or 2x or 4x i put it on 2x at first and the problem presisted almost gave up on it but then i put it even lower to 1x and guess what that fixed it no flickering or a black screen smooth and steady as she goes. so far not a pip out of it very happy that it has been resolved for now. thank u all for helping now on to the mother board problem i would get either one of the boards listed above the problem is that the second one doesnt support sdram and thats the only kind i got and i bought a 512 chip a couple weeks ago and that cost alot of money so i am not to excited on spending it again. but the first one supports sdram and ddr so if i feel like upgrading ram i could do it in a geefy. still please continue to look for reviews because i have to go now my head is about to explode from all this card problems and again thank you |
