IE 7 Problems

I hate, hate, hate, hate, IE7. I have had nothing but problems with IE7 and don't know what to do. Most of the time when trying to load a site IE7 is unable to do so. I then use Firefox no problems in downloading the site at all. Does anyone know why this is?

Also this may be a silly question but whilst in this forum when I want to go back to a previous page I am getting this message.

"Not Found
The requested URL /f-16.html&order=desc&daysprune=-1 was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.37 Server at http://www.gidforums.com Port 80"

What does this mean, does this forum not allow us to go back or can I blame it on IE7?

Re: IE 7 Problems

Well, if you don't get those errors when you use other browsers, the problem is most likely with IE7. IE7 changed a lot of things under the hood; I tested it for several weeks and never grew fond of it.

Frankly, if you don't go anywhere that absolutely requires IE, then just stop using it. You're life will be easier.

Re: IE 7 Problems

I actually have stopped using it but your explanation as to why things are happening is typical. I reckon if something isn't broken why mess with it. But that is what happens these days.

I have stopped using IE7 for viturally everything now but I haven't been able to set it as default. Do you know how this is done, (what am I saying of course you do!) would you mind sharing this tid bit with me.?

I am trying to change to firefox as the default browser but because I use Outlook Express for my mail (as this is the only one I have) I can't see how to change it there. Cheers Tina

Re: IE 7 Problems

At least in WinXP, you could just open up the properties of the Start Menu. One of the areas should have a place for telling Windows which program to associate with Internet browsing; just change it to Firefox.

Another way to do it is by looking at the Options/Settings/Preferences (whatever it's called) of FF and mark the checkbox for making FF your default browser. This way will at least ensure that you'll get a notification for when something changes your system settings.

Re: IE 7 Problems

Personally I like IE7 however FF is a great browser as well. I just wanted to post a link to a page that talks about this problem in IE7

http://www.tutorials-win.com/IE/Some-parts/

Also on a side note if you don't like Outlook Express you could try Thunderbird. I have used it in the past and it works well.
