Help getting Nuclear Strike to run on Windows XP

I'm trying to get an old PC game to work on XP, called "Nuclear Strike, EA Helicopper SIM". Box says it runs on 95/98 but when trying to launch it on Xp I get a OS compatibility illgal ops (Send, Not Send). Pissed me right off cause I have older games like this that run fine on Xp and I just purchased this game off of eBay and was excited to play it again after all these years. I checked to see if I can find a patch that would allow it to run on XP, but the game is so dated looks like nobody cares, there is none. What I've seen on the NET looks like no ones complained about this problem for this game, I'm the only Smuck!!

P.S and no I'm not gonna format my 80 Gig 1 comp just to install "Mr. Blue screen of death" crap OS 98 just to play this 1 game that I can't get to work. But I do want to play it bad. "Yes I know its sad". lol. Please Help.

Thanks

Windows XP has a compatibility option have you tried that? Not to worry about being sad I got a old 486 computer just so I could play a game that I like that I can't get to run on anything but Windows 3.1. If the compatibility doesn't work I'll see if I have this game or can find the answer. To use the compatibility right click over the icon in the start menu or the desktop doesn’t matter go to properties and then there should be a compatibility tap there.

RE:Need help getting old games to run

Yuppers!!!, Tried all the Windows XP compatibility options. It does look like its launching when setting it to 98 (black screen) than all of a sudden I hear the Windows error Sound.wav, than it crashes. I tried to find help on the NET for this game by looking on Google, but like I said no one seems to have complained about this problem for this old game and why should they if they are enjoying the latest games...lol <-----OLD School.
Hope you can find something cause I can't :-( Thanks

I've tried running the game but am sorry to say that I was unable to get the game to run. As I only have the demo I can't test the patches. An Emulator is one option but it's probably easier to just do a dual boot. Try the two patches for this game and let me know what happens and we can go from there. Here's the link to the patch

I've tried both those patches, those 2 patches are actually on the retail Cd of the game. As for a dual boot, I have no idea how I can do that, which means I have to install Windows 98 on a second partition right? Seems like such a hassle to do, I think I will pass on that idea since I hate 98 in the 1st place. If there is no other option well one word for the Cd than I guess, "Coaster!!!". Sucks I was really looking forword to play this game again. Now I hate XP, lol. J\k

The Creators of this game should make a patch or driver whatever so it will run on XP, but noooooooo, the game is so bloody old no one gives a hoot.

I totally agree with you here. I'm still not giving up yet I'm going to ask around and see if I can find a better answer. But believe me I know hoe you feel colonization is one of my favorite games of all times and after I upgraded I wasn't able to play it any more there was a DOS version that I was able to get to work but it sucked. The only way I was able to fix this was to get that old 486. But luckily those things are so old I was able to talk someone into giving my one. I'll let you know if I found anything out.
