NFL & Superbowl

A lot of people probably don't have interest in this, as they are not in the US of A, but I am a huge NFL fan.

I always find that the superbowl is anticlimatic. There is way too much hype about it and it never lives up to expectations. Then they drag it out to be a 4-hour television event in order to throw more multi-million dollar/minute commercials into it.

In addition, the superbowl is preceeded by the NFL play-offs, which, if you are a fan, are among the most intense and competitive events ever.

And what is up with the stupid bye-week!? The superbowl should be today and get it over with already. Instead they have a two-week period between the conference championships and the superbowl. To me, this dulls the response of the players and they never come out crisp in the superbowl.

Okay, rant mode is off. Who wins this superbowl and why? I am pulling for the Panthers, but would be shocked if they can win the ever-consistent Patriots. Neither of these teams brings alot of flash, but I think the Patriots bring the consistency.

Speaking of the Panthers, two prominent players for the Panthers played at my alma madder (sp?), the University of Utah. Steve Smith at wide receiver and Jordan Gross at offensive tackle. So that is another reason, I will be pulling for the Panthers.

I agree with you the superbowl doesn't live up to the hype. I'm not a big NFL fan to be honest my favorite part is the commercials. As far as the teams I'm a bigger Panthers fan than a Patriots fan but then again a live in South Carolina and I remember going down to Clemson to watch them play.

I was in South Carolina about a year ago. A guy I work with grew up in Gaffney and we went back there and stayed with his sister for about a week. I really enjoyed it back there. Have you ever seen the water tower there that is supposed to look like a peach, but really looks like a big butt?

Well, it came and went and overall I think we ended up with a pretty good superbowl. I was pulling for Carolina to win, but New England outplayed them on both sides of the ball.

Here are my complaints about the Superbowl. Number one complaint: half-time show. These things are notoriously awful and this one went beyond awful. The people who are buying tickets to the superbowl, typically don't even know who P-Diddy or Kid Rock are nor do they care. Here is my fix: eliminate the half-time spectacle, shorten half-time to what a normal football game is. Unfortunately, the NFL doesn't give a hoot about my fix.

Finally, I found the commercials a little lame. There were some good ones, but not like the past. Off topic a bit, but why is it that only beer commercials can make a good funny commercial?

NOTE: This post represents my opinion only. If your opinion differs, let me know.

Why, did you hear about the Janet Jackson expose?

It's kind of funny, I was so fed up with the half-time show that I wasn't watching when the peep show came on :-(

Hehe...I know. I saw a close up on Drudge, it seems it was pre-planned because she had a metallic "pastie" on the nipple.

Here is a pretty funny story.

One of my teachers was lecturing on Mythology and she noticed that he button came undone on her overshirt. So she buttons it back up and say, "Almost pulled a Janet Jackson." Class broke out laughing, it was so funny.
