My IMAPI service was already disabled, so I ended up buying a can of clean air & giving it a squirt. Didn't even really have to disassemble the drive too much - just squirted into the open tray drawer - just burnt my first successful DVD+DL in about 7 goes

Sounds really simple. Almost like that joke about how they fix your broken VCR at the repair shop. But how long have you had the problem? And apart from just blowing the dust out from the PC Drive did you make any other additional changes to your burn program? What version of nero are you using, and decryptor program?

I'll invest in a can of dust spray later and keep my fingers crossed this will work for me as well.

Disabling IMAPI service didn't help me, but cleaning the lens - did. I have a laptop, so that was not difficult - the lens is on the tray and easily accessible. By the way, it is the second time I've had a problem with my CD/DVD drive, and at that time also (half of a year ago) I've solved it with a handkerchief

Actually when following this advice I found that I already had the IMAPI service turned off (I went through a purging mode a few weeks back to reduce drain on the system for audio recording)....

However since I'd received the power calibration error, I tried re-enabling the service and it solved the problem..... it seems it works both ways!

I had the same problem with my Sony Vaio. I tried Maxell, Sony and Memorex (DVD-R), all failed. After I disabled IMAPI, now I can burn dvd with Sony and Maxell, however Memorex still fails.
